Regulation 19 /1998, of 26th November, on Management and Pharmaceutical Care of the Region of Madrid will suffer an amendment, introduced by the Popular Party in The Budget of the Region of Madrid, referred to the criteria for the awarding of the pharmacies in Madrid.
Concretely, professional experience and/ or academic merits which have already been taken into account in previous calls will no longer be considered, in order to facilitate the access to new graduates.
Furthermore, article 43 of the Regulation adds a new paragraph with the next content: “In the processes of awarding new pharmacies, professional experience and/ or academic merits which have already been taken into account in previous calls, will no longer be considered trough which the pharmacist has already been awarded with a pharmacy and has proceeded to its opening, within ten years from the same. On the contrary, such limitation does not affect the merits related to the academic record, or the Bachelor Degree required for the call”.
Article 43 was already amended with the modification of the Regulation on Tax and Administrative Measures for 2013, by introducing a new criterion for the evaluation of the developed activity in the pharmacy as a pharmacist proprietor, in those pharmacies with limited profitability.
Additionally, of the Law on Pharmaceutical Care of 1998, brings another cause of legislative amendment which will allow the pharmacist assistants in Madrid, juggle part time contracts in more than one pharmacy.
The College of Pharmacists of Madrid (COFM) has welcomed this change believing it improves the awarding system and that it meets the demands and career aspirations which promote job creation by opening new employment opportunities for the group of young graduates.
